For the third time in the last five years, the Nebraska volleyball team will open the season ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Cornhuskers gathered 57 of 63 first-place votes and had 1,568 points, well ahead of No. 2 Texas, which had 1,427 points and one first-place vote. No. 3 Kentucky picked up four first-place votes and had 1,398 points, while Pitt and Stanford rounded out the top five. Defending national champion Texas A&M opens the season ranked No. 8.
Nebraska will face the second-ranked Longhorns in the second game of the regular season, the seventh time in program history the Huskers have played in a No. 1 versus No. 2 game. Nebraska begins a season No. 1 for the ninth time in school history.
