Lincoln residents can learn more about a major street improvement project planned for 48th Street during a virtual public meeting later this month.
Lincoln Transportation and Utilities will host a pre-construction virtual open house on Thursday, August 13. The presentation begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
The project covers 48th Street between Normal and Cotner boulevards and includes resurfacing the roadway, repairing curbs and concrete, sealing pavement joints and cracks, replacing pavement markings, adjusting utilities, and upgrading curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
The project also calls for reconstructing the traffic signal pole at 48th Street and Normal Boulevard, replacing traffic signals at 48th and South streets, and installing a new roundabout at 48th and Sumner streets.
The estimated cost is $2.05 million, with funding provided through Lincoln on the Move and Highway Allocation Funds. Construction is expected to begin this summer and continue through summer 2027.
