Independent candidate Dan Osborn has officially qualified for Nebraska’s 2026 general election ballot for U.S. Senate. The Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office announced Thursday that Osborn’s petition campaign met all statutory requirements to appear on the ballot as a nonpartisan candidate.

State election officials verified at least 6,096 signatures from registered Nebraska voters, surpassing the 110% verification threshold that allows counties to stop checking additional signatures under state law.

To qualify, Senate candidates filing by petition must submit at least 4,000 valid signatures statewide, including a minimum of 750 signatures from registered voters in each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts. Election officials verified at least 2,314 signatures in the 1st Congressional District, 1,897 in the 2nd District and 1,885 in the 3rd District.

The Secretary of State authorized Osborn’s petition drive in January. The campaign submitted its completed petitions on June 11.
