Lincoln Police say an 18-year-old woman has been cited following a June 10 crash involving a Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputy at Highway 77 and Warlick Boulevard. The crash happened late that evening when the woman’s SUV and a sheriff’s cruiser collided in the intersection.
Investigators initially reported that the teen claimed she had a green light while traveling westbound on Warlick Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by the southbound patrol unit. However, Lincoln Police say a review of video footage from the Sheriff’s Office showed the teen did not have a green light.
She was cited Wednesday morning for violating a traffic signal and released. The deputy was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash. The teen suffered minor injuries and was treated and released. The deputy was not injured. Authorities say both vehicles were totaled.
