A Sunday afternoon fire in central Lincoln caused an estimated $280,000 in damage to a detached garage and a nearby home.  LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the call came in around 1:30 p.m.

The fire started in the detached garage and it spread to the house, up the corner of the eaves and got into the attic space, which caused a little bit of a problem,” Lierman says. “LFR was able to hold off the fire inside, but there were damages outside.”

Lierman says damage is estimated at $150,000 to the house, $30,000 to the garage, which was destroyed, and about $100,000 to the contents. Crews got the fire under control in about 40 minutes. Two residents had to be displaced and there were no injuries.

The specific cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Lierman says investigators believe it could be an electrical issue.
