A Lincoln man has been arrested in an ongoing child abuse and assault investigation. 30-year-old Devon Rejda of Lincoln was arrested on Friday by LPD’s Special Victim’s Unit and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and 1st degree assault.
“The investigation began on Friday, May 1, when the Bryan West ER contacted LPD regarding a 23-month-old child in critical condition with injuries to his body, including bruising and a brain bleed,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.
“He was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Omaha for further care, where doctors determined the injuries were consistent with abusive trauma.” Thomas says the investigation determined Rejda is the the boyfriend of the child’s mother and was responsible for the injuries.
The toddler remains in the hospital and the investigation is ongoing.
