Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews battled a garage fire Sunday afternoon near South 77th and Maplewood Court. LFR Public Information Manager MJ Lierman says crews found flames coming from the garage around 1:30 p.m.
Lierman says crews were able to quickly put the fire out and prevent the flames from spreading to the home. Lierman says the fire was deemed accidental and was caused by a heat lamp in a duck enclosure. Damage is estimated at $60,000 to the garage and $30,000 to the contents.
Lierman says the residents were able to safely evacuate and were relocated with the help of the American Red Cross after the home’s electrical panel was pulled.
