Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner announced on Friday that Sergeant Amy Shandera has been promoted to the the rank of Captain.  Shandera joined the sheriff’s department in 2001, the day after the 911 terror attacks, and Wagner says she has served the community in a variety of important roles in their office.

“Captain Shandera will lead our Professional Standards Division, which oversees the Training and Personnel Unit, Information Technology, and Internal Affairs,” Wagner says. Shandera started in Patrol, where she also served as Field Training Officer, helping mentor and guide new deputies early in their careers.

Wagner noted that law enforcement runs deep in Shandera’s family.  Her grandfather served as a Lt. with LPD, her aunt served as an LPD Sergeant and her uncle served as a  Lancaster County District Court Judge.

Wagner says Shandera’s professionalism, leadership and dedication to both the department and the citizens of Lancaster County made her the best choice for this leadership role. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role with the Sheriff’s Office,” Captain Shandera says.  “And I look forward to continuing the service for the community and the citizens of Lancaster County.”
