In honor of what would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday, fans of the late actress have been donating to their favorite animal charities. Matt Madcharo is interim executive director at the Capital Humane Society in Lincoln and tells KLIN News as of 2:00 Monday afternoon they received more than $8,000 in donations from more than 250 donors.
He says the support is overwhelming. “It says people definitely loved Betty White but they also care about the animals in their community and want to show their support not only for her but also for the animals that need help.”
Madcharo says the money raised will help them better care for the animals in their shelter. “Veterinary, microchips and vaccines to get more animals prepared to go out to the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center for adoption to find new homes.”
Madcharo says donations in honor of White’s birthday will still be accepted in the coming days. “No real end date, if somebody wanted to send in a donation later this week that works too.” Donations can be dropped off at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center or by clicking here
