Lincoln Police were called to Cuba Restaurant & Bar, near North 27th and Vine Street, shortly before noon Saturday after a vehicle had struck the building.
According to LPD, a 19-year-old driver of a white van was northbound on N 27th Street from Vine Street. The driver suffered a medical emergency and became unconscious. The vehicle veered off the road and struck the building.
Several customers and staff were inside the restaurant when the building was struck. Numerous minor injuries were reported by occupants of the vehicle and customers inside the restaurant. A 19-month-old who was inside the restaurant suffered serious injuries. They were treated at a local hospital before being transferred to Omaha for further treatment.
Building and Safety determined the business suffered damage that makes the building unsafe to occupy. The business will be closed until repairs can be made.
