Senior Day at Bowlin Stadium went from joyous to historic after No. 4 Nebraska Softball pummeled Iowa, 13-0, in five innings. The win, the Cornhuskers’ 15th in a row and the 29th in the last 30 games, finished off Nebraska’s home schedule with a 15-1 record and completed Nebraska’s sweep of the Hawkeyes.

After the Huskers’ 12-player senior class was honored after the game, athletic director Troy Dannen took the microphone at Bowlin Stadium and told the crowd that the playing surface at Bowlin Stadium would be known hereafter as Rhonda Revelle Field, and a banner displaying “Rhonda Revelle Field” was unfurled from behind the centerfield fence.

The renaming capped a nearly perfect day for Nebraska softball. The Huskers jumped all over Iowa, scoring six in the first inning, then another in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth to build a 13-run lead. Jordy Frahm (15-4), one of those 12 seniors, dominated in the circle, allowing just three hits and no runs on 74 pitches.

Another senior, Hannah Camenzind, paced the Nebraska offense, hitting 2-for-3 with two RBI. Frahm punctuated the day at the plate with a three-run home run to center. Fellow seniors Bella Bacon (2-for-3) and Lauren Camenzind (1-for-1, two RBI) also starred at the plate.

For the second straight game, the school record was broken for largest crowd at Bowlin Stadium, as 3,541 fans crammed into the ballpark. It was the fourth crowd of over 3,000 to see the Huskers at home.

Nebraska will complete the regular season with a three-game series at Penn State beginning Friday at 4 p.m. in University Park, Pa. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 p.m. on B-107.3.
