A Lincoln Police officer has resigned following an investigation into a reported sexual assault. City officials say the officer left the department prior to a pre-disciplinary hearing after both a criminal and internal investigation were completed.

According to the city, Lincoln Police received an anonymous report in 2025 alleging a sexual assault involving an officer during a non-work trip outside of Lincoln. The case was turned over to the Nebraska State Patrol for a criminal investigation.

After investigators identified a victim and gathered additional details.  Josh Fullerton was then placed the officer on administrative leave and an internal investigation was conducted.  Both investigations have since concluded. NSP referred the case to the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, which then sent it to the Buffalo County Attorney.
