The No. 6 Nebraska softball team dominated Minnesota in an 11-2, six-inning, mercy-rule win. The Cornhuskers have won 11 games in a row and 25 of the last 26.

Nebraska is likely to rise in the polls, possibly as high as No. 1. This week’s No. 1, Oklahoma, has lost to Oklahoma State and Arkansas. No. 2 Texas Tech fell in its only game of the week, a midweek battle with mid-major Texas State. No. 3 Alabama fell Tuesday to Samford. No. 4 Florida lost Saturday to Auburn. And fifth-ranked Texas lost to No. 15 Georgia.

Meanwhile, Nebraska has kept rolling. The Golden Gophers led 2-1 after one inning, their first lead of the weekend. But in the bottom of the second, Jesse Farrell crushed a two-run home run to left, giving the Huskers a 3-2 lead. Then in the fourth, an RBI groundout by Lauren Camenzind boosted the lead to 4-2. A two-run home run by Jordy Frahm grew the Huskers’ advantage to 6-2.

The in the fifth, Bella Bacon drove in a run with a double to left to make it 7-2. Nebraska finished off the victory with a four-run sixth. Frahm (13-4) made sure the runs would hold up. Brought on from the bullpen in the bottom of the third, Frahm retired all 12 batters she faced, finishing off the sweep for NU.

Farrell paced the offensive attack, hitting 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Hannah Coor reached base all four times she came to the plate, with two hits and two walks.

Nebraska now prepares to face in-state rival Omaha Tuesday at Connie Claussen Field in Omaha. Pregame coverage begins at 5;45 with first pitch at five p.n. on B-107.3.
