Freshman pitcher Alexis Jensen pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as she powered No. 7 Nebraska softball to a 5-0 win at Wisconsin Friday night.

It started bumpy for her, as the Badgers had two runners on with no one out in the first inning, but Jensen worked out of the jam. Then in the second, Wisconsin had runners at second and third with one out, but again, Jensen denied the Badgers. After Hilary Blomberg reached on an error to leadoff the third inning, Jensen took over, retiring the last 13 hitters and 15 of the last 16. She ended the game with 10 strikeouts, her fourth double-digit strikeout effort of the season.

Meanwhile, the Cornhuskers cashed in a leadoff walk by Samantha Bland in the top of the third, as Jordy Frahm laced a triple to center field, giving NU a 1-0 lead. Jesse Farrell doubled the lead to 2-0 with a line drive homer to center with one out in the top of the fourth. Then in the sixth, a two-run single up the middle by Kacie Hoffmann doubled the lead to 4-0. Then in the top of the seventh, a Hannah Camenzind infield single scored Frahm to pushed the lead to five.

Nebraska has won its last six and 20 of its last 21 games. Frahm was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple to pace the Huskers offense.

Game two of the series is Saturday at noon. Pregame coverage begins at 11:45 a.m. on 105.3 The Bone.
