A Friday morning crash near the east side of the Nebraska Wesleyan campus sent one person to the hospital. Lincoln Police say the collision happened around 8:40 a.m. at 56th Street and Huntington.
Investigators say a 75-year-old man was traveling southbound on 56th in a Toyota Camry when a westbound Nissan Versa ran a stop sign and entered the intersection. The impact sent the Versa off the road, where it hit a sign and rolled over.
Emergency crews removed the 27-year-old driver from the vehicle and transported her to Bryan West with what officers described as a possible non-life-threatening head injury. According to police, the woman said she had just dropped her brother off at school and was on her way to work.
She believed the Camry had stopped to allow her through the intersection and told officers she did not recall seeing a stop sign. She also had difficulty remembering details of the crash. Police cited her for a stop sign violation and released her. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
