A run in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh turned a tied game into an 8-2 victory for No. 8 Nebraska softball over Creighton Tuesday at the Creighton Softball Stadium in Omaha. The Cornhuskers have won 24 of their last 26 games and keep rolling after a three-game series win over No. 7 UCLA last weekend.

Nebraska (27-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead four batters into the game. After Jordy Frahm reached on an infield single and Hannah Coor walked, Hannah Camenzind singled up the middle, scoring Frahm. Ava Kuszak doubled to left, driving in Coor and making it 2-0.

But from there, the Huskers’ offense went quiet, getting just one hit over the next three innings. Meanwhile, a two-run home run by the Bluejays’ Tara Vandewater tied the game in the second.

Nebraska retook the lead in the fifth when Kuszak reached on an error, scoring Frahm. Then in the sixth, Lauren Camenzind laced an RBI doule to center. Frahm followed with a sacrifice fly to left. Coor singled up the middle, driving in a run, and Kuszak hit a sacrifice fly to right, pushing the lead to 7-2. Kacie Hoffmann clubbed a home run to right field in the seventh to put an exclamation point on the win.

Alexis Jensen (14-2) came out of the bullpen to earn the win, allowing just one hit while striking out seven in four shutout innings.

Nebraska now prepares for a three-series against Rutgers, beginning Friday at 5 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium. Pregame coverage begins at 4:45 on B-107.3.
