A Red Flag Warning has been issued for a large part of Southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa from 12 Noon to 9 this evening.  North to Northwest winds are forecast today at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.  Those winds combined with low relative humidity mean that any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening as winds will switch to the South-Southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Look for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
