The Nebraska baseball team outslugged Kansas State Tuesday, earning a 14-9 victory that was the Cornhuskers’ 14th in the last 15 games, including Nebraska’s third straight on the road.

Drew Grego slugged two home runs and was 3-for-4 with five RBI to pace the Huskers (18-6) offense. Mac Moyer was 4-for-6 with an RBI at the top of the lineup. Jeter Worthley was 3-for-6 with two RBI and a double as well. The Wildcats offense was led by Kyan Lodice, who was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

The tone was set early, with Nebraska scoring two runs in the top of the first and K-State answering with a pair in the bottom of the second. After the Huskers piled up four runs in the top of the third to build a 6-2 lead, the Wildcats stormed back with six in the bottom of the fourth to jump back ahead, 8-6.

But Nebraska took control with five runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the eighth to build a 14-8 lead. K-State scored one in the ninth to draw closer.

Jalen Worthley earned the win for the Huskers, pitching two-thirds of an inning of shutout ball while walking one. Nebraska used nine pitchers in the game.

The Huskers now prepare for a big three-game series against Indiana beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Hawks Field. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. on KLIN.
