Lincoln Police were called to Mahoney Park near 70th and Fremont Streets around 9:15 Saturday night on a report of 18-20 teens and young adults fighting in the park. LPD says another report indicated there were actually about 75 to 100 people involved.
As law enforcement from LPD, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol arrived in the area, additional information was relayed that someone in the fight may have fired a gun. Police say the Nebraska State Patrol Airwing assisted police in locating several people fleeing the park.
LPD says no victims of an assault were found, but one of the people officers tried to contact initially ran from officers, but stopped and surrendered after a short foot pursuit. During a search he was found to have a handgun in his possession. Police say that gun had the serial number partially scratched off.
18-year- old Javias Clark was arrested and booked for possession of a defaced firearm, carrying a concealed weapon by a prohibited person and obstructing a peace officer.
