The Nebraska baseball team continued its red-hot run, winning its 11th straight game with a 10-1 victory over Wichita State Wednesday in Wichita, Kan. The Cornhuskers took control of the game early, posting four runs in the first and a run in the second in building a five-run lead early.
Nebraska hitters piled up 14 hits, 11 singles. Case Sanderson led the Husker lineup, hitting 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double. Jeter Worthley was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Dylan Carey added a pair of RBI while hitting 2-for-5, while Jett Buck was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Pryce Bender got the start on the mound for the Huskers, allowing just one earned run in four innings. Tucker Timmermann, Chase Olson, Jace Ziola, Grant Cleavinger and Ryan Harrahill combined for five no-hit, shutout innings, walking no one while striking out nine. NU relievers retired the last 16 batters they faced.
Already leading 5-0, Nebraska tacked on a run in the fourth. The Shockers finally answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Huskers added a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take the doubt out of the game.
Nebraska now heads to Ann Arbor for a big, Big Ten series against Michigan beginning Friday at 3 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. on KLIN.
