Sunday’s strong winds and snow created major problems on I-80 in Cass County. Interstate 80 was closed in both directions for a time following a multi-vehicle crash between the Ashland and Greenwood exits. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says an emergency vehicle was struck in the crash, highlighting just how hazardous conditions were.
The sheriff’s department said in a social media post that if you do not absolutely need to travel, stay home. Bryan Health says it treated four patients from the crash. Two patients were admitted to the Bryan West Campus and both are in fair condition.
Two patients were treated and released. Sunday’s winter storm produced wind gusts up to 65 mph and that created white-out conditions across the region Sunday afternoon. There were reports of at least 20 vehicles involved in the crash.
