The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is once again receiving reports of a phone scam involving callers claiming to be law enforcement.  LSO says scammers are telling victims they missed jury duty and will be arrested unless they pay a fine immediately.
The sheriff’s office is stressing that law enforcement will never call and demand payment to avoid arrest and you will not be asked to pay fines for missed jury duty over the phone.  LSO also says courts do not accept payment through gift cards or payment apps.
If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and do not provide personal or financial information.
