Britt Prince’s three-pointer with seven seconds remaining gave Nebraska the lead for good as the Cornhuskers defeated Washington, 66-65, Sunday in Seattle, Wash., in Nebraska’s next-to-last regular season game of the season. The win snapped the Huskers’ six-game losing streak and was their first in the month of February.

Prince led all scorers in the game with 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting. She also added six rebounds and six assists for Nebraska. Amiah Hargrove contributed 14 points while Jessica Petrie tallied 11. The Huskies were led by Brynn McGaughy and Savyia Sellers, who scored 14 points each. Avery Howell notched 13 and Elle Ladine pitched in 10.

The Huskers led after one quarter, 17-12, and clung to a 35-32 lead at halftime. But in the third quarter, Washington surged back, storming out of the locker room on a 9-2 run to take a 41-37 lead with 7:25 to go in the third quarter. Nebraska scored four straight points to tie the game at 41, but the Huskies took a 51-47 lead to the fourth quarter.

In the final stanza, Washington opened a 63-57 lead with 4:16 to go before the Huskers fought back, tying the game at 63 on a 6-0 run. A Sellers layup with 16 seconds to go put the Huskies ahead, 65-63, but then Prince drained the stepback three with seven seconds to go to give Nebraska the lead. Washington had three shots on the final possession, but missed them all, and the Huskers hung on to win.

Nebraska now prepares for its regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Rutgers at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Pregame coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. on B-107.3.
