A potent offense and solid pitching from Jordy Frahm and Alexis Jensen led Nebraska to an 8-2 win over No. 11 Texas A&M Saturday in the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The Cornhuskers (9-4) have now won five in a row, a season-long winning streak.

Nebraska got on the board first in the top of the third. Jordy Frahm’s RBI single was followed by RBI doubles by Ava Kuszak and Carlie Muhlbach, building the lead to 3-0. A Kacie Hoffmann sacrifice fly opened the lead to 4-0 going to the bottom of the third. The Aggies (9-5) scored a single run in the bottom of the third, cutting NU’s lead to 4-1.

Then in the top of the fifth, Frahm homered to push the Nebraska lead to 5-1, and Jesse Farrell’s three-run shot later in the inning pushed the lead to 8-1. Texas A&M scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but drew no closer.

Frahm led from both the circle and the plate. As a pitcher, Frahm (4-4) threw five innings and had 10 strikeouts. As a hitter, Frahm was 2-for-3 with four RBI, including a home run. Sydne Peters took the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, in five innings.

Nebraska is back in action Sunday at 11 a.m. against Seattle University, with a matchup against Cal to follow right after.
