Kansas State scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth to erase a 3-1 lead and defeat Nebraska baseball, 5-3, Saturday night in Arlington, Texas.

The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a Carlos Vasquez RBI single to center. But the Cornhuskers (3-3) answered back in the bottom of the third. Joshua Overbeek ripped a two-run double to center, giving Nebraska a 2-1 lead. The lead grew to 3-1 NU when a run scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth.

But K-State started tied the game in the top of the 6th with a Vasquez two-run single. Then in the top of the eight, a sacrifice fly by Dee Kennedy gave the Wildcats the lead. Vasquez followed with an RBI to boost KSU’s lead to 5-3.

J’Shawn Unger (0-1) took the loss for Nebraska, allowing an earned run 1.1 innings pitched. Carson Jass got the start and threw 5.2 innings, allowing three earned while striking out eight. Carson Liggett (1-0) earned the win, throwing 4.2 innings of shutout ball.

Vasquez was 3-for-4 with 4 RBI to pace K-State’s lineup, while the Huskers were led by the two RBI of Overbeek.

Nebraska will close its still in Arlington, Texas, Sunday, as the Huskers take on No. 16 Florida State. Pregame coverage start at 2 p.m., with first pitch at 2:30 p.m. on KLIN.
