No. 5 Husker wrestling closes dual season with win

The No. 5 Nebraska wrestling closed its regular season in dominant fashion, throttling Utah Valley 32-6 in the Cornhuskers’ final dual of the regular season. Nebraska (13-6) won eight of 10 matches, including four bonus-point victories.

The Huskers took control early, as No. 3 Antrell Taylor won by technical fall over Ian Fritz at 157 pounds, 19-3, just 14 seconds into the second period. No. 7 LJ Araujo followed at 165 pounds with a pin of Zyon Trujillo with 15 seconds to go at in the second period. At 174 pounds, No. 4 Christopher Minto won by major decision over Hudson Rogers, 15-7. That gave Nebraska 15-0 lead in the dual.

After a loss at 184 pounds, No. 10 Camden McDanel won by decision over Kael Bennie at 197 pounds, 10-5 No. 3 AJ Ferrari followed at heavyweight with a 19-4 technical fall win, pushing the Huskers’ lead in the dual to 23-3. After Kael Lauridsen won by decision at 125 pounds, No. 10 Jacob Van Dee (133 pounds) and No. 4 Brock Hardy (141 pounds) followed with decision wins to clinch the dual.

Nebraska now prepares for the Big Ten Championships, to be staged in University Park, Pa., March 7-8.
