LFR crews responded to a two-story house fire around 12:20 Wednesday morning near 8th and Harrison. “The crews found heavy smoke from the backside and they were working on fire control and where the occupants were,” says Public Information Officer MJ Lierman.
She says crews were able to get the fire knocked down on the primary floor. “The fire was then reported extending into the attic.” Lierman says firefighters got the fire under control around 1:08 a.m.
“One firefighter was evaluated and so was one of the residents, but they both refused transport.” Lierman says damage to the home is around $200,000. Two adults, four kids and 4 pets were relocated by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
