No. 5 Huskers close Big Ten duals with win at Indiana

The No. 5 Nebraska wrestling team won the last nine matches of the dual to dominate Indiana, 34-5, Sunday in Bloomington, Ind., in the Cornhuskers’ last Big Ten dual of the season.

After Indiana (8-5, 3-4 Big Ten) won by technical fall at 125 pounds, Nebraska (11-6, 5-3 Big Ten) didn’t lose the rest of the dual. No. 9 Jacob Van Dee sparked the winning streak at 133 pounds with an 18-1 technical fall over Gavin Jendreas, closing the match 30 seconds into the second period. No. 4 Brock Hardy followed with a tech fall win of his own, dominating No. 25 Henry Porter, 20-4, while closing the victory with 22 seconds remaining in the match. No. 20 Chance Lamer followed with a win by decision over Joey Butler at 149 pounds, 5-3, opening a 13-5 lead for NU.

At 157 pounds, No. 3 Antrell Taylor trashed Bryce Lowery, winning by technical fall, 21-5, with the match closed with 34 seconds to go in the second period. Back-to-back decision wins by No. 7 LJ Araujo at 165 pounds and No. 4 Christopher Minto at 174 opened a 24-5 lead for the Huskers. At 184 pounds, No. 6 Silas Allred won by major decision over No. 19 Sam Goin, 11-2. No. 9 Camden McDanel followed with a decision win over No. 22 Gabe Sollars, 5-3, at 197 pounds. Heavyweight No. 4 AJ Ferrari closed the dual with an 8-3 win over Matt Kowalski.

Nebraska closes its dual season Saturday at 8 p.m., as the Huskers head to Utah Valley.
