A Lincoln family of six was forced from their home following an early morning fire. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire broke out on the front porch of the home near 65th and Baldwin around 2:00.
“The fire investigator determined it started underneath the front porch, but the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.” Lierman says one of the residents awoke to smoke filling their bedroom and was able to alert the other family members.
Damage is estimated at $20,000 to the front porch area and $2,000 for contents. The American Red Cross has relocated the two adults and fur children, but Lierman says damage inside the house is minimal and they should be able to move back in soon.
