Since December 26 members of Boy Scout Troop 8 in Lincoln have been picking up Christmas trees and taking them to city drop off sites where they are ground up into mulch.

Brooks Rushman is committee chair and says trees will be collected from residences this Saturday and Sunday.  He says they should be placed in front of homes by 9 a.m.   Rushman says this is their seventh year of doing the free pickup service and says reservations continue to grow.  “Last year we had over 1,200 reservations and just over 1,400 total trees that we recycled.”
