Lincoln City officials are putting their winter storm plan in place. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 3 a.m. to midnight on New Years Day. Snow totals in Lincoln could be 4-6 inches and wind chills down to 20 below zero are possible. The strong winds will reduce visibilities and make travel difficult.
City officials say at 4:00 Friday morning 15 crews will begin treating arterial routes with anti-ice brine. Traffic Management will monitor weather conditions overnight Friday and plow crews are standing by.
After midnight on New Year’s Eve, drivers should be alert for slick spots, especially on untreated areas. LTU officials are encouraging residents to keep their vehicles in driveways, parking garages and other off street areas to ensure more efficient snow plow operations.
