The Nebraska football team received two commitments from the transfer portal: offensive lineman Tree Babalade and linebacker Will Hawthorne.
Babalade comes to the Huskers from South Carolina, where he started five games along the offensive line. Though Babalade has played both guard and tackle during his career, he would seem to be a frontrunner to take over as starter at right tackle. Babalade is the second offensive lineman Nebraska has picked up in the portal.
Hawthorne redshirted this past season at Iowa State. The Cyclones edged the Huskers in the recruiting battle for Hawthorne as a high schooler, but Hawthorne sought to transfer after the departure of Iowa State coach Matt Campbell to Penn State.
