The Affected Areas: In Nebraska, Wayne, Boone, Madison, Stanton, Cuming, Platte, Colfax, Dodge, Washington, Butler, Saunders, Douglas, Sarpy, Seward, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Saline, Jefferson, Gage and Johnson.
Winds Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon, becoming northwesterly at 15 to 25 with gusts to 45 mph between 8 PM and 1 AM.
Relative Humidity of 15 to 25 percent which means any fires that ignite may spread rapidly and exhibit extreme fire behavior.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Today and Tonight: A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 1 AM tonight. Low relative humidity, strong winds, and unseasonably warm temperatures will create an environment favorable for rapid fire spread. Winds will be southerly during the day today, but will turn to the northwest after 8 PM, creating a wind shift hazard for any ongoing fire fighting efforts.
Please avoid active burning or any activities that may lead to fire ignition during this period. A Wind Advisory is also in effect for Johnson and Otoe Counties through 9 PM, where southerly wind gusts up to 50 mph may occur. .
