A man wanted on a number of previous felony and misdemeanor charges is facing more trouble.   Sergeant Chris Vigil says around 1:15 Christmas morning police were in the 1400 block of Idylwild Drive to investigate a possible protection order violation.

Officers spotted the 24 year old man sitting in a parked SUV and approached on foot.  “An officer gave the male several commands to exit the vehicle, but he instead reversed the Hyundai at a high rate of speed, striking the officer’s cruiser,” says Sergeant Chris Vigil.  “The male then drove forward at a high rate of speed, causing the officer to take cover behind a nearby vehicle to avoid being struck.”

Vigil says other officers pursued the vehicle,  but were not able to apprehend the driver due to his reckless and erratic driving.  The man male is now facing several additional charges,  including Fleeing to Avoid Arrest, Willful Reckless Driving, Driving During Revocation and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
