Lincoln residents are invited to a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony this Sunday at Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park. The event will begin at 11:55 a.m. to coincide with the time of the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941.
The event will feature welcome remarks by Sandi Einspahr, daughter of a Pearl Harbor survivor. Einspahr will share memories of her father, Lawrence Osterbuhr, who served in the Coast Guard aboard the CGC Kukui.
There will also be a presentation of colors by the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Honor Guard. There will be music by the Lincoln Continentals Quartet and Kevin Murray. Pearl Harbor memorabilia will also be displayed by Jason Grof.
Grof’s grandfather served on the USS Effingham at Pearl Harbor shortly after the December 7 attack. Grof, who served in both the US Army and Army National Guard, has spent years collecting and preserving items connected to Pearl Harbor.
Accessible parking is available on the north side of the Auld Pavilion.
