Josh Davis, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s (UNL) vice chancellor and chief of staff to the chancellor, is leaving after 14 years for a similar job at Penn State.
UNL will host a free public farewell reception for Davis on Dec. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lied Commons. Davis will become senior vice provost and chief of staff at Pennsylvania State University on Jan. 5.
In his new role, he will serve as a strategic adviser to Penn State’s provost, oversee multiple academic and administrative units, and represent the university in national higher education forums.
“Josh has demonstrated exemplary service to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for more than a decade and has been an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team and my office staff,” said UNL Chancellor Rodney Bennett. “We wish him well as he carries his commitment to elevating institutional excellence and student success to Penn State.”
During his UNL career, Davis has served in several major roles, including associate vice chancellor for global affairs and senior international officer. He led the development of UNL’s first global strategy, expanded access to international learning, and established the Global Education Center. He has also held previous posts within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the University of Nebraska system.
“Over the last 14 years, I have been fortunate to call Nebraska home and to work alongside so many talented and dedicated members of the faculty and staff,” said Davis. “I believe deeply in higher education’s mission to transform lives through education, research, and engagement.”
The university says plans to fill Davis’ role will be announced at a later date.
