Lincoln families will have a chance to catch a unique sight this holiday season as Snowplow Santa returns to the streets on Saturday, December 6.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) announced the annual event will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with Santa trading his sleigh for an LTU snowplow and greeting residents along a two-stop route.

Now in its sixth year, the free event is a partnership between LTU and Lincoln City Libraries.

“Bringing holiday joy to our community is something we look forward to every year,” said Liz Elliott, LTU Director. “Snowplow Santa gives families a chance to celebrate together, enjoy the excitement of the season, and see the work our snowplow operators do to keep streets safe during the winter.”

Santa will briefly stop at two library branches, where families can take photos and enjoy indoor activities afterward. Mr. Clause will be at the Eiseley Branch Library (1530 Superior Street) from 10 to 11 a.m., then at the Gere Branch Library (2400 S. 56th Street) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lincoln City Libraries Youth Services Coordinator Ali Bousquet said the event reliably brings joy to young families.

“From meeting Santa and taking pictures to enjoying crafts and seasonal treats, the event offers families a festive and fun experience,” Bousquet said.

Residents can follow Snowplow Santa’s route in real time on December 6 using the City’s Snowplow Tracker at lincoln.ne.gov/snow. City officials noted the event may be canceled in the event of inclement weather. More information is available at lincoln.ne.gov/SnowplowSanta.
