The People’s City Mission is gearing up for a very busy Thanksgiving. Pastor Tom Barber is the CEO and tells KLIN News it begins this Saturday with their annual turkey giveaway at the Help Center near 68th and ‘P’ Street.  “We’re going to giveaway 500 turkeys with all the fixings”

Barber says the people who shop at their Help Center aren’t homeless, just struggling financially.  The turkeys were all donated by local groups and individuals, or purchased with funds donated specifically for turkeys by local donors.

Barber says the giveaway is a drive-through event where recipients line up in their cars in the parking lot beginning at 8 AM. Volunteers will distribute frozen turkeys and donated nonperishable side dishes.

Qualified recipients are those who hold local Clarity cards with proof of income.  If you would like to help, frozen turkeys and side dishes will be accepted at the Help Center from now until November 26 for use at either this giveaway or at the Thanksgiving Day meal served at the PCM shelter.
