Lincoln Parks and Recreation will conduct a controlled burn Thursday, Nov. 13, on about nine acres near the Pioneers Boulevard trailhead in Wilderness Park.
The burn will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the parking lot along with the Yellow Trail between markers 17 and 18 will be closed until noon Friday, Nov. 14.
Officials are asking community members to avoid the area during the project.
Aaron Druery, Greenways District Supervisor, said controlled burns help manage large areas of native vegetation, reduce wildfire risk, and improve wildlife habitat. Parks staff will monitor weather and air quality conditions to ensure the burn is conducted safely.
