Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews battled a house fire Tuesday evening that caused extensive damage northwest of 84th and O Street. The fire was reported just before 7:00 in the Meadowlane neighborhood and LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says flames from the deck were extending to the inside of the house.
Lierman says when firefighters arrived the residents and a dog had evacuated safely. Damage estimated at $200,000 for property and $100,000 for contents. Lierman says the fire inspector determined that overloaded electrical outlets on the deck sparked the fire.
It took about 45 minutes to get it under control. The residents have been displaced.
