Lincoln Police say a man stabbed himself as officers arrived in the area of 22nd and D Street around 11:30 Tuesday morning. Lt. Phillip Tran tells KLIN News officers were originally called for an unknown call for service.
“When officers arrived, they were contacted by a 25-year-old female who reported that a 46-year-old male known to her had assaulted her, was armed with a knife, and was threatening to harm himself,” Tran says.
He says officers saw the man actively inflicting life-threatening injuries on himself with the knife. “Officers deployed Tasers to stop him from causing further harm and took him into custody.” Tran says the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.
