Pet owners looking to save some money can take advantage of a low-cost microchip clinic tomorrow with the Capital Humane Society.

The event will be hosted at the Stransky Veterinary Center, located at 55th and O Street, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Implants cost $10 per pet with no exam fee to microchip your pet. It is walk-in only with no appointment needed.

“The goal is to get as many pets in our community microchipped as possible so that if they ever go missing, they can be reunited with their families quickly,” Executive Director Matt Madcharo told KLIN News.

Over the past several years, Capital Humane Society has seen “a significant drop in the percentage of lost dogs that have been reclaimed by their owners,” Madcharo added. “If more pets had proper identification like ID tags and microchips, we’d see far more families reunited.”

Microchipping is one of the most effective and affordable ways to ensure pets can be returned home if lost, according to the American Animal Hospital Association.
