The holiday season will soon be here and the Salvation Army of Lincoln is looking for volunteer bell ringers for it’s Red Kettle fund raising campaign. “We would love as many people as possible to volunteer two hours of their time to come and pick a site, ring the bell,” says Captain Kelsey Moreno-McCarter.

“Every dollar raised  helps families in need in the Lincoln area all year long.”  Moreno-McCarter encourages volunteers to come in groups and have fun with it.  “Wear your best ugly Christmas sweater, if you’re a musical family sing some Christmas carols, give out some candy canes.  It’s a great way to spread some joy and some cheer.”

Bell ringing starts November 15 and ends Christmas Eve.   On Friday the Salvation Army will hold it’s annual Tree of Lights kick off and tree lighting ceremony at 27th and Holdrege beginning at 5:30.  Santa Claus will make an appearance and there will be live music by the Lincoln Citadel and Youth Bands, a vendor resource fair and crafts.
