LFR says a north Lincoln home sustained heavy damage after a fire Saturday night. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says around 11:00 crews responded to the home near 16th and Culbera Street and found a garage on fire.
Lierman says the fire had a significant head start due to 20-30 mile per hour winds that fueled the flames, which quickly spread into the attic. She says the residents and their dog were able to escape the fire and firefighters had to fight it from the outside.
Lierman says crews also worked to protect homes on both sides to prevent the flames from spreading. A fire inspector estimated damage at $400,000 to the home and $250,000 for contents, along with two vehicles. The cause of the fire is not yhet known.
