Julie Slama officially launched her campaign for State Treasurer on Monday. Slama previously represented southeast Nebraska in the State Legislature where she served as the Chair of the Legislature’s Banking, Commerce, & Insurance Committee.
“Nebraskans deserve a leader who will work tirelessly to deliver conservative wins,” Slama says. “As your next State Treasurer, I’ll defend Nebraskans’ conservative principles, ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are spent and invested wisely, and stand up to government waste, fraud, and abuse.”
The Republican candidate says her her watch Nebraskans tax dollars will never go towards radical liberal investments. “We’ll focus on growing our economy, helping Nebraskans thrive and ensuring the Treasurer’s Office operates with strong fiscal conservative leadership.”
Slama served six years in the legislature beginning in January 2019. She will be running in the May 12 GOP primary. The office is currently held by former state senator Tom Briese. He has not said whether he was seek re-election in 2026.
