The City of Lincoln is celebrating hometown musician James Valentine, lead guitarist for Maroon 5, by temporarily renaming a portion of Canopy Street in the Railyard to “James Valentine Blvd.”

The honorary street signs are posted at Canopy and “R” streets through Wednesday, October 29, coinciding with Maroon 5’s concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday, October 28.

“Few things bring people together like great music, and Lincoln is thrilled to celebrate one of our own taking the stage once again at Pinnacle Bank Arena,” said Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. “Honorarily renaming Canopy Street is our way of saying ‘welcome home’ to James Valentine and recognizing that his hometown talent continues to inspire fans around the world.”

Valentine, a Lincoln Southeast High School graduate, has been part of Maroon 5 since the band’s early days. The group has sold more than 135 million records and won three Grammy Awards and three American Music Awards.

A limited number of tickets remain available at ticketmaster.com or at the Pinnacle Bank Arena box office.
