Lincoln Fire and Rescue are taking steps to prepare for Wednesday’s strong winds and potential severe storms.  “We have added an additional crew on for today,” says LFR’s Nancy Crist.  “We anticipate there being a possibility of some lines down, maybe tree limbs down, maybe tree limbs onto high lines.”

Crist says the extra manpower will allow them to block off an area and keep people safe until LES arrives.   She says they are concerned about the high fire danger potential.

“If we do get a fire when the winds are high like that we worry about it being a wind driven fire, which can create a fast moving fire,” Crist says.  “So we bring on additional crews right away to handle that.”
