Lincoln residents are doing a better job of keeping thieves away from their property. In the latest Safety by the Numbers report, Police say total burglaries are down 30 percent in 2025 compared to the average from 2021-2024.
“Residential burglaries are down 23 percent and commercial burglaries down 48 percent,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer. He says unlocked doors remain a top entry point. “Lock doors & windows, even when home.”
Vollmer advises using lights and timers so the home looks occupied, secure your valuables out of plain sight and report suspicious activity immediately. LPD says it will continue working with residents to keep them safe and eliminate the financial loss caused by these crimes.
