By Tom Stanton Oct 6, 2025 | 9:09 AM

Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue will be hosting the the second annual Halloween Swearing-In Thursday, October 23 at the combined police and fire station at 66th and Pine Lake Road. Parents are encouraged to dress their children up as a police officer or a firefighter.

LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says they will have two 45-minute sessions,  from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. LPD and LFR equipment will be on display for tours and photos along with the LPD Command Post and LFR fire engines.

Thomas says kids in their costumes will be sworn in as either a police officer or a firefighter by Lincoln City Council members Tom Beckius and Tom Duden. Children in other costumes are still welcome to attend and be sworn in to either department.

Assistant Police Chiefs Jason Stille and Ryan Dale and Fire Chief Dave Engler will be available for photos with the kids.  “We are excited to see your costumes and can’t wait to spend the evening with you,” Thomas says.  There will also be candy and treats provided.

The event is free and parking is limited.  LPD is advising parents to RSVP as soon as possible for adult and children tickets for the session they wish to attend, along with one parking pass.
