After taking a weekend off due to COVID-19 positives within the Wisconsin program, No. 4 Nebraska (9-1) needed to shake the rust off and did so against Illinois (2-8).
The Huskers earned sweeps Friday (25-23, 15, 22) and Saturday (26-24, 30-28, 25-17).
In the first match, Nebraska hit just .282 but held Illinois to .153. Lexi Sun had 17 kills while Lauren Stivrins added 10.
Nicklin Hames pitched in 33 assists, pushing her past 3,000 assists in her career. Hames is just the sixth-Husker in the rally scoring era to surpass that threshold.
Saturday was much more competitive, with two sets neded to go into extras. Once again, Illinois was held under .200 hitting.
Sun tallied 14 kills and Stivrins tacked on 11. Hames added another 33 assists to her total in the sweep.
Nebraska hosts undefeated No. 19 Ohio State next weekend.
